Nagoya Matsuri
Published October 20th, 2006 in Photography, GeneralI guess I should actually use this blog, huh? I’m terrible at writing, though. It’s not that I can’t, I just don’t have the dedication to do it. In fact, one of the reasons that I’m so drawn to photography is that I can convey what I what to say so much better through pictures.
I went to Nagoya Matsuri last weekend. I ended up going both days because the weather was just so gorgeous. The first day was overcast, and the second day was bright and sunny. Naturally, I assumed that the second day’s photos would be a lot better, but I was wrong. The clouds actually evened out the light and even though it was kind of dreary, it had a nice softening effect on the photos. The second day was a little too contrasty and extreme. Plus, I was disappointed because the parade was a lot closer the first day. They actually circled around the main square and I was able to get some pretty good shots. The second day, though, was a lot farther away and they went straight through rather than circling.
I was actually planning on going to a festival this coming weekend in Kyoto, but I’ve got a cold, so I decided to skip it.
Does anyone actually read this stuff besides the spambots? If you do, please post so I can at least have some motivation to post something worthwhile every now and then.
